Elkhorn Slough Kayak Tour Information
Elkhorn Slough Wildlife Tour - $75 Per Person
This is by far our most popular kayak tour! Learn about the diverse wildlife of the Elkhorn Slough while being guided to all the best spots by our naturalist guides.
You are guaranteed to see harbor seals, migratory sea birds, and the real crowd pleasers: The Southern Sea Otter! This is an excellent paddle for beginners in stable double kayaks.
No kayaking experience is necessary.
Family Adventure Tour - $60
This two-hour tour is created with your little ocean enthusiast in mind! The tour is perfect for families. Our guides focus on fun sea otter, harbor seal, and sea lion facts guaranteed to delight the very young in age and young at heart! The Elkhorn Slough is protected from the large swells of the Monterey Bay and is a great place to start your introduction to sea kayaking for your whole family. 3 years old and up.
No kayaking experience necessary.
Sunset Tour - $65 Per Person
Join us for one of our most popular and intimate tours of the Elkhorn Slough. This two-hour tour highlights the natural beauty of Moss Landing at dusk.
We focus our attention on the wildlife behavior as the sun sets – pelican’s diving for food and sea otters foraging and settling down for the night.
No kayaking experience necessary. Minimum age of 12.
Starlight Bioluminescence Tour - $110 Per Person
Come join us for a tour of the slough in twilight! This three hour tour begins during the golden hour just before sunset as animals begin frolicking and feeding at dusk. Once the sun sets, enjoy the serenity as night herons emerge and egrets find their homes in the trees. When the darkness deepens, we will search for bioluminescence, looking for its telltale sparkles and shimmering blue glow as the otter and bird calls travel through the night. This tour is a sure to wow crowd-pleaser!
Please note that bioluminescence is not always visible and does decrease notably as the seasons change.
Offered only June – October. No kayaking experience necessary. Minimum age of 12.
Birdwatching Tour - $75 Per Person
In the fall and winter the Elkhorn Slough is full of migrating birds– flocks of sandpipers, dunlins, dowitchers and other shorebirds visit the Slough on their annual migration, some traveling thousands of miles. We have been lucky enough to spot birds on the rare and endangered species lists, such as the snowy plover and the peregrine falcon. The Slough has even held the record for the highest number of bird species (116) observed from a fixed point in one day.
No kayaking experience necessary, photography encouraged!
We Paddle You Photo - $165 Per Person
Ready for an outstanding photography opportunity without the hassle of maneuvering yourself to avoid losing that perfect wildlife shot? Kayak Connection now offers a We Paddle, You Photo service!
Leave the driving to one of our highly trained staff members as you focus on capturing that perfect moment. Our closed-deck double sea kayaks provide extra stability and room to bring out the “big guns.” This tour has been a favorite of professional and novice photographers alike. We supply the guide and kayak, you supply the camera. This is a 2 hour tour, including orientation and gear up time on land.
Sunrise Tour - $105 Per Person
The perfect tour for for those early risers. Early morning is by far the best time to be on the Slough with the calmest waters, serene views and no crowds.
We offer our sunrise tours as a private tour, so please call our shop to schedule your perfect sunrise paddle.
Minimum of 2 participants required. No kayaking experience necessary.

Elkhorn Slough King Tide Tour - $75 Per Person
Join us for a special outing during the highest tides of the year! The Elkhorn Slough looks completely different when submerged by the King Tide. This tour explores a maze of side channels and hard to reach places that are not accessible on lower tides. We’ll even have the opportunity to paddle over the normal banks of the the slough and float under the oak trees! This is a once in a year experience you will not want to miss!
