Those of us who enjoy kayaking and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary think of ourselves as a community.

We’re dedicated to sharing our love for the outdoors with others. Our sense of stewardship and deep respect for the environment is a founding principle and inspires our work.

We’re Proud to Make a Difference

Over the years, Kayak Connection has donated more than $100,000 in services and gift certificates to local charities and schools. We’re dedicated to nurturing a love for our marine environment in others, especially young people.

Kayak Connection gives back to these communities by providing tours at reduced-non profit rates, volunteers equipment and staff time for numerous tours and water clean-ups and conservation events.

These are just a few of the groups we’re honored to have as valued partners:

Camp SEA Lab – CSUMB

Camp SEA Lab fosters lifelong excitement, scientific understanding, and stewardship of our coasts and ocean. Operating a multi-day overnight school and summer camp programs, Camp SEA Lab has brought thousands of school children on discounted kayak tours to Kayak Connection over the past 20 years.

Save Our Shores

save our shoresSave Our Shores is a marine conservation non-profit dedicated to fostering a thriving Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary through clean shores, healthy habits, and living waters. In addition to having one of our founders as a board member of SOS, Kayak Connection sponsors Save Our Shores by offering free and discounted kayak rentals to facilitate beach and wetland clean ups, and other in-kind donations.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

BBBS creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of local youth. We offer free kayaking experiences for Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors and kids.

Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts of America

We have worked closely with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to develop custom programs that provide fun and educational experiences and meet merit badge requirements.

Seymour Center Ocean Explorers

Future marine scientists dive deep into the educational experiences offered at the Seymour Center. Ages 7 through 14 explore the mysteries of ocean science that thrive in Monterey Bay. Our contribution to ongoing discovery includes kayak adventures that double as exciting field trips.

Watsonville Wetlands Watch

The 800-acre Watsonville sloughs are one of California’s most valued natural treasures. Their preservation depends on the work of groups like the Watsonville Wetlands Watch. The Watch fosters environmental stewardship in area youth, and we join their efforts with kayak tour opportunities.

Shared Adventures

Shared Adventures gets people outdoors and moving beyond their physical disabilities. A non-profit organization dedicated to improving quality of life for those with disabilities, we believe that recreation, fun, challenge, and access to the outdoors are essential to health and fulfillment. Kayak Connection is proud to partner with Shared Adventures to create kayaking adventures at greatly reduced cost.

Camp Krem

Our Kayak Connection team enjoys a strong relationship with Camp Krem in beautiful Boulder Creek. This scenic location offers a breathtaking backdrop for campers of all ages with developmental disabilities. It’s our pleasure to provide kayaking outings for this wonderful organization.

Earth Team

Earth Team empowers teens to take stewardship of our natural environment. Their dedicated staff offers exceptional educational opportunities that emphasize sustainability around the San Francisco Bay area. The non-profit gives us a chance to give back through our kayak touring adventures.

National Park Service Youth Outreach

Our team truly appreciates working with this program at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Partnering with Outreach park rangers allows us to connect with disadvantaged youth and introduce them to California’s natural beauty with our kayak tours.

YMCA

This venerable organization continues to serve young people all across the area. Their emphasis on healthy living and social responsibility includes developing a deep respect for the outdoors. Kayak Connection is proud to help and support their efforts by contributing our services.
